Hard knock life

November 11, 2011 by Edlyn

I’m home alone for the day until mother comes home so I thought I’d cook some lunch. Especially so since my mama confessed she woke up too late and we were going to have leftovers later on. Bummer? Not if I could help it.

Here’s the meal in it’s entirety. Jeera rice made by mother, dal, turmeric cauliflower, fried peppered potatoes with parmesan and crispy garlic, and a rechado mackeral (also by mommy). The other savoury things I added for decoration, some being leftovers. I love the look of a full plate, I say!

There must be a song I can dance to after eating all of this because it was amazing home-cooking.

(I sort of followed this recipe for the dal. I tried it with a pressure cooker but I have a horrible fear of them so when yellow water started bubbling out of the sides, I thought it would explode and I stopped doing it that way. A regular pot did just fine.)
